GERMAN EDITION - After several accidents in 1986, Group B were banned from the rally and Group A road cars, approved with a minimum production of 5,000 units, became the best formula for this sport.
The early years saw an almost absolute dominance by Lancia, before Toyota became their first real competitor. In the following years, Mitsubishi, Ford and Subaru joined Toyota as protagonists, each with four-wheel drive cars and turbocharged engines.
