Over the course of its more than 70-year history, many people have studied, innovated and sometimes even sacrificed their own lives to save others.

The history of Formula 1 is full of tragic events, sometimes bloody, sometimes even mockingly evitable. All certainly unjust, but all bringing reflection, studies, experiments and applications.

In order to ensure that incidents like those of Senna, De Angelis, Villeneuve to Paletti, which have always occurred and will always occur, can always lead to happy endings and sighs of relief,  as happened to Romain Grosjean in Bahrain or Robert Kubica in Montreal.

From the monocoque to helmets, from the HANS collar to Halo system, we look back at many of the dramatic events that led to their introduction, analysing the contexts and facets that transformed Formula 1, making it the premier category also in terms of safety.
