Grand Prix after Grand Prix, the author recounts the race, with the starting order, crucial events, anecdotes and emotions experienced, reporting the relative results and those, updated, of drivers and constructors.

1999 was decided at the last race, in Japan, at Suzuka, and saw the Constructors' Championship return to Maranello after 16 years.

But it will be remembered above all by many fans for the "muddle" in Ferrari's box, during the European Grand Prix, on the Nürburgring circuit, the third last round of the World Championship.

Edda Ansaloni's passionate and accurate report of this event: "On lap 21 Irvine comes in to make his pit stop and decides to fit dry tyres (he had opted for wet ones). This causes great chaos and the right rear wheel 'disappears', incredibly 'found' by a Tele+ journalist. The whole thing causes the Prancing Horse team to lose a good 28"2. The images of the No. 4 car stopped in the box with three tyres already mounted, mechanics desperately searching for the fourth tyre and not finding it, and seconds inexorably ticking away, depriving Irvine of any chance to fight for precious points, shocked millions of fans".
