On 8 June 1968 the Porsche 910 driven by Lodovico Scarfiotti left the road during the Alpine Prize trials in Rossfeld, Germany.
In this incident, Scarfiotti, who had triumphed at the Italian Grand Prix of 1966 for Ferrari and who will remain, until today, the last Italian rider to win at Monza for the Modena team, loses his life.
At the time of burial, in the family tomb, next to his are engraved the dates of birth and death of his grandfather who, at the beginning of the last century, was the first president of Fiat, and with whom the pilot now it shares, in addition to the name, also the fate of a violent and precocious end.
The book traces the events of the life of these two men who have left a tangible sign in the Italian industrial and sports history but who have been, in some way, ousted.
The link between the two generations and the fulcrum of this family saga is Luigi Scarfiotti, deputy, industrial, gentleman driver, son of the first Lodovico and father of the pilot.
A biographical story in which passions, business, sports are intertwined inextricably through a century, two world wars, fascism, repeated economic crises and the boom of the sixties.
