This volume, published in 1988, is No. 16 in Automobilia's prestigious 'New Great Cars Series'.

It is dedicated to Jaguar XJ40, with production data and technical characteristics of the XJ6 2.9, XJ6 3.6, Sovereign 2.9 and Sovereign 3.6 versions.

To this last version, in particular, is dedicated a portfolio of colour photos and a report of a road test.

The new XJ, whose project name was XJ40, debuted in 1986, after almost a decade of gestation between studies and refinements. Despite many rumours, it was not yet another Series III restyling, but a completely new and redesigned car.

The line was new, more aerodynamic and modern (notwithstanding the obvious stylistic continuity with the Series III, which remained in production in the V12 version only).

Amply illustrated, it counts 93 pages. Text in three languages: French, English and Italian.
