In 1983, Enzo Ferrari published Piloti che gente…, a book entirely dedicated to drivers, with a detailed and in-depth analysis of the men, rather than the sportsmen, who were able to conquer the heart and soul of Enzo and triumph at the wheel of the red Maranello cars.

The author writes that drivers could be divided into five major periods, almost five generations: between 1919 and 1930, 1930 and 1939, the post-war period, the 1960s and 1970s, and the current era.

Enzo Ferrari reviews these five periods, which have seen him, in different roles, as protagonist, from racer first, to team director and manufacturer later.

The iconographic material is rich and splendid, which, like the story, captures the reader, made of archive images, drawings, illustrations and sporting news articles.

Piloti, che gente… Maestri del calcolo, campioni di cinismo, primatisti della sconsideratezza o soltanto uomini, che cercano nell'esaltante fremito della vittoria il senso della vita?

(Drivers, what people… Masters of calculation, champions of cynicism, primates of recklessness or just men, who seek in the exhilarating rush of victory the meaning of life?).

Third edition, dated April 1985.
