The series Sulle strade della Mille Miglia (Mille Miglia On the road) is enriched with its thirteenth edition, once again edited by Attilio Facconi, which retraces the 2024 Mille Miglia regularity race through stunning images, with an extensive historical compendium dedicated to the 1940 race.

Spread over more than 130 pages, they allow readers to admire not only the cars, but also the immense architectural and artistic heritage of the cities, together with the most significant places crossed during the competition.

Attilio Facconi, an automotive historian with a particular interest in this great race, has personally selected thousands of photographs with care and historiographical sensibility.

More than five hundred carefully selected photographs of the vintage cars that made the history of this legendary race, taken by professionals, make the atmosphere of the race come alive.

The same sensibility that leads him to tell in each edition an event in the history of the Mille Miglia “Velocità”. This edition covers the 1940 race, which did not reach Rome for the halfway point, but took place on a triangular route between Brescia, Cremona, Mantua and Brescia.

The preface is written by historian Giordano Bruno Guerri, President of the Vittoriale degli Italiani, who offers an accurate picture of the social and political context in which the race took place at the end of April 1940.

The contribution of journalist Maria Leitner, anchorwoman and editor of Rai Tg2 Motori, focuses on the participation of German cars and the international role of the 1940 race.

There is an interesting account by Giovanni Bianchi Anderloni, grandson of the founder of the historic Carrozzeria Touring, who designed the Alfa Romeo, BMW and debut Auto Avio cars, a milestone for Ferrari, which played a leading role in the unusual Mille Miglia.

Like the previous editions, also this one is under the patronage of the Vittoriale degli Italiani and Garda Musei.
